Music Video Analysis-Marilyn Monroe

Camerawork:
The first shot we see is a match on action of a man looking at a woman. This could then give us a good idea of what the music video could be about just from this one shot it begins to make you think will this be about this man and woman or maybe something else. This could be why the director has chosen to use this shot to make the audience think about what the music video is about.



We then see a shot of the main artist making his way down a row of "girls". This could show the audience that although he has all these "girls" around him he is still not happy as the one that he truly wants has disappeared. The director could have chosen to use this shot because it will give the audience an idea of what he feels like.



We then see a shot of a woman that was at the start of the video in a carved out moon. This could tell us although the main artist has been through a lot to find the right person it was worth the wait. the director may have chosen this shot to show the audience that sometimes things are worth waiting for and not rushing in to things.

Mise en scene:

At the start we see the location as a strange location with low key lighting. The director could have chosen to to use this shot as when the artist is with this woman he feels strange and maybe alien. This could give the audience a good clear idea of how the artist feels for this woman. We then see the location change to a woman's dance hall this could show us that the main artist is trying to find the same woman once again which again will show us that the video is about the man and the woman.

The lighting in this music video is mainly high key. This will be because although the song is a about a somewhat dark or un happy topic it is not a sad song.Therefore the lighting will look bright. Also it could be seen that the lights are bright be cause he is looking for somebody. This could be the reason that the director will chose to use this type of lighting. 

Editing: 

The editing is mixed paced throughout. The reason for this is because he at the start is happy and in dream land and then as he has too look for the woman the pace starts to fasten up. 

We then see some montage editing. This will be used to show that he has found many different girls but not the right one.
